Course 4: From Intuition to Execution
Part 1: Gaining Commitment
Coaching is a secret weapon but it is not something you do “to” people. It is something you do with people. Coaching is considered successful when people commit to their own ideas and put their words into action. This part of the course is aimed to inform students how to coach a coachee to gain commitment. It is taught so the coach can ensure coachees have committed to their own ideas and actions in order to make forward progress.
Part 2: Flawless Execution
In this part of the course, students gain practical experience helping a coachee plan and execute their goals. Coaching plans are introduced and the skills to create and adjust them are discussed. Students learn to help a coachee identify and access external resources and learn to celebrate their successes. Finally, the creation of habits is studied and practically applied in class through peer and group coaching exercises.
Part 3: Managing Progress
Managing progress and accountability requires the coach to keep the attention of the coachee on what is important, leaving the responsibility with the coachee to take action. In this part of the course, students learn to design accountability with the coachee and follow up on designed actions.
Students focus on the ability to be hands-off and give all control to the coachee. Students learn to trust their coachees yearning to reach their goal and encourage them to do so. Students focus on their ability to trust all the work they have collaboratively done up until this moment.
